Bag of Hope No.2

$145.00

Measures: 20”x15”

Bags of Hope - Each bag is a one of a kind constructed art piece, assembled using original Liz Hodder fabric, reclaimed fabrics, and textiles.

These have been designed and developed during the pandemic creating something new out of the "the bits" in my studio. The premise is creating an environmentally user-friendly bag. . Each bag encompasses a vision of Hope for our new future, as all of these pieces are woven together. There is a Japanese tradition called "Boro" and it speaks to my creative process philosophy, and directly to this series. "Boro": derived from the Japanese phrase, boroboro- meaning something tattered or repaired, boro refers to the practice of reworking and repairing textiles (often clothes or bedding) through piecing, patching and stitching, in order to extend their use. For me it is about creating meaning.

BOH are hand-constructed in Nashville, Tn and made with original Liz Hodder fabrics as well as a variety of upcycled cottons, velvets, brocades, twills, corduroy, vintage and victorian, hand-dyed, embroidered. They feature selvages and raw edges.

Please note: Bag will naturally change with wash and wear over time - there is beauty to be embraced and appreciated in the gentle, and purposeful, deconstruction that will take place. Yet it remains durable!

Each bag features multiple pockets both inside and out with a flexible shoulder or crossbody option. Reversible design. Machine wash and tumble dry.

Each BOH is a unique, handmade item, no two pieces are ever exactly the same. Approximately the same size, pockets, straps. Fabrics will vary. The photo shown is a close representation of the work, but will not be identical to the piece you receive.
